so i spent friday evening watching youtube and prompting ai to help me out with my love2d game project... and then last night i did the same thing.. and now i have a very interesting foundation for a game..
to be clear: it's nowhere near a real game. it lacks ideas, direction, art, sound, music, and just general features that are required for a game in this specific genre.. but also it brims of potential.
as i code for a living, i 'know' i always knew i could try and make a game in my free time.. even before ai. in the sense that i know i have the skills to make a decent attempt. however most days, i don't have the mental energy or coding muscle to dive into programming languages and engines i'm not familiair with. i'd rather spend my free time doing non-code stuff..
so sometimes this left me this unscratched itch... of wanting to mess around with a little passion project, but facing to many start up costs to really get into it.. and i'm not 16 anymore, so like i said, my energy and time are limited.
you know where i'm going: ai opened up this new avenue for me. it helped me out with lua and love while i rested my bones and let my brain wander into a youtube hole. and when i pulled out my head i could see the ai did some good stuff, but there was also some stuff we needed to discuss..
it's just entertaining. i don't know if you can make this ai thing useful for your life, work or hobbies. like all things, you need to have some strong ideas and skills yourself. and determination, discipline... all the stuff you would need anyway.
but i just had fun.. and i guess that's worth something as well.
