i've been posting some of my music to youtube. it's mostly stuff i did with my grooveboxes... little machines that produce sound, sample sound and let you sequence the sounds. it's all in good fun and it's not too much work.
it's something i've been wanting to do for a long time and have tried before. right now i'm in a good rhythm and it's going well.
yesterday i posted this sort of re-imagination of the pokémon center theme. i whistle this melody at leat a few times a week.. so i thought.. let's create something with it. and also... it's pokémon, so it might attract some extra audience...
so i went ahead and made it, posted it, made a short... etc. and that in itself isn't necessarily the problem. because it was fun to make it and i kind of like the result as well. it's not perfect, but these videos are not meant to be perfect.
what happened was that i started to expect this video to be a success, to perform better. i was ascribing all these qualities and expectations to it... it's a familiair melody, it's pokémon, it's fun... so yes, people will love it.
and then the video bombed... lol. i think it's my worst performing one out of the series.
i guess it's a good lesson in not getting to invested in results or in general the things you cannot do much about. i know i can make a fun track, a nice video and upload it. i can have a good time with it. but i can't control if people watch, like it or the opposite. so whether it becomes a success or it fails... don't get too invested either way. just focus on your own process, because that's you. and that's what counts.
