what's been my obsession
it's probably been a week(?) since my last post... i want to say i've been busy. and in a way i have... but it's been self-induced. i could have spent just a bit of my time writing, but i've been making some different choices recently.
the next.js effect...
where is the jank
work frustrations
arguing with a rock
(still) in progress
it's been quite busy the past couple of days.. yet i did manage to work a bit on my projects. currently i would describe their status as:
the feeling of autumn
after a busy summer, i suddenly find myself in autumn. it's just a little more cold, dark and wet. the trees haven't completely shed their leafs yet, but they are thinking about it.
uninspired
i think i'm at the point of the posting streak where things get a little rough. i don't have any immediate inspiration or thoughts i feel like sharing, and i'm also a bit tired. can you imagine having to type words again? it's such a headache.
second screen
or second activity?
don't get too invested
i've been posting some of my music to youtube. it's mostly stuff i did with my grooveboxes... little machines that produce sound, sample sound and let you sequence the sounds. it's all in good fun and it's not too much work.
more game dev...
and it was fun!
game dev
it's saturday morning when i write this. last night i dabbled in a bit of love2d game dev. it's a side-side-project... i have my main game dev project: earth's cry... but sometimes it just glares at my incompetence and indecisiveness and i need to extract myself from it in order to not ruin it with overambitious commits.
discipline over motivation
recently i listened to a podcast.. can't remember the exact one, but i think it might be either rangan chatterjee, jay shetty, or healthygamer...

october blues
i think i got hit with the october blues yesterday. it wasn't too bad, but it was definitely a little slap. not hard enough of to push me off track, but strong enough to invade my mind with... thoughts.. and kick my engine into gear..?
katabasis
so usually before bed i like to read fantasy, science fiction, basically anything sort of plot-driven and not too directly linked to our reality. it eases my mind and makes me sleep better.
music
it's around 9.30am here.. and my partner is in the bedroom practicing piano. she is playing in c-minor.. and it sounds pretty good.
i woke up at 6am
and this is the schedule i settled for
oh no! free time
it's friday and that means i'm done working: clocked out. which... in turn also means my list of personal 'in development' projects is slowly creeping up on me...
measure please
today i was dealing with some degraded database performance at work.. and i made the cardinal mistake of not going in to measure and monitor before diving into the code.
october enters
wake up wake up, it's the first of the month

mornings
for months i've been getting out of bed between 6am and 7am... i try to aim for 6am, but sometimes it's a little more difficult. however.. my body and mind know that sleeping past 7am only brings difficulty, not extra rest.
the atproto
it turns out i like the idea of having my own space: a website.. a blog, hosted by myself.. but the friction of updating said own space is just a little too much.

am i a kid (again)
recently i was pulled back into collecting pokémon cards.. and just now seeing some of the chase cards in the new mega evolutions series.. it just excites me.
